Personal Reflection:
This week has been crazy. I knew before the week even started that it was going to be, though. Sunday was a really good day. I had 3 students in my Sunday School class (although one was an old youth pastor and he tends to take over, not to mention it is awkward) and we had a really good discussion. Sunday morning was fun because I got to work with the pre-kindergarten class because no one else was signed up to do so. We talked about Paul and how the Roman soldiers wanted to kill him. We discussed ideas around this as best as possible and it turned out really good. The kids also played with blocks and we had them work together on this project. In Sunday night youth group, we watched "The Prince of Egypt" because I did a lesson over the plagues not to long ago and had promised that we would watch the movie and eat popcorn. It was a good time of fellowship. I really enjoy being able to hang out with my teenagers. Also, we had 8 on Sunday night. Our average has been about 4 or 5, so 8 is a huge number for us right now, and we are praising God for it. Wednesday night we had a good time of singing and praise time. Although the praise time can sometimes turn into story time, it is usually still really good to catch up on each others lives and to know what God has been doing for one another. After youth group, we had ice cream cake for one of the leaders birthdays. Again, a great time of fellowship and of being together.
Spiritual reflection: I have been really tired this week. I have had so much to do. I feel, though, like I am not spiritually tired. Looking back on my week, I have seen where people have helped hold me up when I wanted to fall and God moving in the lives of those around me. Chapel has been amazing this week which I love. I want to be able to take what I am learning here and put it into action back home, but sometimes I feel like it is nearly impossible. For example, my Theology 2 class: great information, no application. I know that my kids would be able to handle this type of information, but I am unsure how to communicate it without being boring or irrelevent. I am thankful that this week is almost over because next week is going to be a breeze compared to this week.
Have a great retreat weekend!!!
