Personal Reflection- When I met with my pastor this week, I discussed with him the idea of being ordained. I am currently unsure where I want to be after I graduate, so I am trying to keep all of my options open. My pastor told me that if I wanted to start the process after graduation that he would be happy to help me. Since then, I think I have decided that ordination is not for me, but I am keeping my options open to what God wants me to do.

I helped with the singing this week at church, which requires me to be at church 30 minutes early. It is a good time to catch up with people and to get some feelings out, and I really enjoy being able to joke around with people I love. Then we had Sunday school. I am the teacher for the young adult class, and like most young adult classes right now, mine was empty. I had a lesson prepared and was ready to go, but everyone has started school and has their own thing going on right now. My one faithful that is there every week because she attends a community college was visiting a friend out of town. I was really down on myself although I have seen this coming for a long time. I decided to help my mom in her Sunday school class with the pre-k kids. It was a really good time just to let go of my frustration and focus on something else.

Next we had church. It was a good time of worship and prayer. Our pastors daughters (24 and 22) are getting ready to move to North Carolina. Everyone was crying (including me, as the 22 year old is a dear friend) but it was nice to see that people still care. The sermon was excellent. Then that night, the teens helped with the singing, which meant there was no youth group. I like having youth group, but it is nice to sit in with the rest of the congregation once in a while.

I am currently learning all of the stresses that go into putting together a retreat. Our retreat is October 30, 31 and November 1. I am extremely excited and have been helping with the planning as much as possible.

Spiritual reflection: With summit last week, then a woman's retreat last weekend, I have been really good spiritually. I am excited to see God working in the lives of others, even when I do not feel His presence constantly. Classes have started to get me down, as well as living with 6 other girls in a townhouse. The drama is getting to me, but I am trying to focus on what I am supposed to be doing and not get caught up in all of it. I am ready to graduate to get away from here and to start doing what I love, but I am thankful for the people I have here that keep me going from day to day. I know I am not alone.

  1. Hey Kristie! Its great to see you involved in so many areas of the church. Keep your head up about the Sunday school situation...that is typical in a lot of churches now especially for the young adult class (i was the only 1 in my sunday school back home) I like your idea of being focused on where you are at and what you need to do...let the drama fly on by! and i understand about the graduating!!! Don't completely shut the door of ordination...God may lead you there one day!
